I’ve loved working with Durham and Cary Academy seniors over this year. The Class of 2026 brought such a creative, fun, intentional energy to their sessions, and it’s always exciting to see how Durham and Cary Academy students balance individuality with the school’s famously high standards.
These portraits were created with each academy’s yearbook requirements in mind - clean, compliant, and still elevated.

Recent Durham Academy Senior Session
Catherine’s session leaned classic and timeless, focusing on soft light, neutral tones, and expressions that feel confident without being overdone.

Melissa’s portraits followed a similar approach we had fun adding in a bouquet and mixing candid, soft, feminine posing blended with more standard shots - still staying safely within Cary Academy’s yearbook guidelines.
Both sessions were organized intentionally to have chunks of shooting where we avoid distractions, extreme angles, or anything that could jeopardize yearbook approval. While still getting to have fun lighthearted candids involved. This is where experience matters — knowing how to create portraits that feel beautiful and modern without crossing lines that Cary Academy is strict about.

What Makes Cary Academy Seniors Unique
Cary Academy students tend to have a very distinct presence. They’re driven, polished, and thoughtful about how they present themselves — not just for senior year, but beyond it. Many want portraits that feel elevated and professional while still capturing their personality, which is exactly where my approach fits.
If you attend Cary Academy, you already know the yearbook rules aren’t flexible. My process is designed so you don’t have to stress about them — I guide wardrobe, posing, and framing to ensure your portraits are both expressive and approved.
